(download or see below)

Mayor Reed says NO to cutting Park Rangers!

Councilmember's Campos, Pyle, Nguyen, Chu and Kalra submits proposal to save the Rose Garden Fountain

The Rose Garden was rescued, renovated and renewed . . . and now it is at risk again!

(Channel 2 coverage of Rose Garden in Budget Crisis)

Newly proposed budget cuts threaten the Rose Garden - again.  Your help is needed to nip it in the bud.

City staff has made their budget recommendations and 3 items that affect the Rose Garden are as follows: (PDF here or below)

1) Eliminate the 2 full time dedicated staff and put park on a "rotating maintenance route"
2) Turn off "decorative fountain"
3) Eliminate the Park Rangers

Don't let the park get back to the poor conditions as seen in the photos:

YOU CAN HELP: Send an e-mail
Say “NO” to eliminating staff.  Also keep the revenue generating Fountain and Park Rangers.

If everyone could quickly send an e-mail with a couple short sentences in your own words stating:

1. San Jose used to be Valley of the Heart's Delight! - The Rose Garden brings back that tradition as a historic landmark!

2. Rose Garden is a Tourist Designation - puts San Jose BACK ON THE MAP

3. Now Nationally recognized, only 23 Test Gardens in the US!

Click on each link to open your mail browsers and just copy your response to each (they don't like to see multiple addressees) You do not need to live in San Jose to make your voices be heard!

Please also attend the Initial Public Hearing in the Proposed Budget , Tuesday, May 12, 7:00pm at the City Hall Council Chambers, 200 E. Santa Clara St.
